I have seen girls carrying water many times. But I always have that question arise in my mind. Where did they come from? In other words, how far have they walked? There is not a water faucet in sight. There is no other houses close by.
I feel thankful and grateful. Just suppose, I had to walk miles to where ever to get my own water. I would not like that.
To experience the feel of water situation in the Congo, here's a simple exercise. Just use one water faucet in your house for a week. Try using it to supply all your water need except for sanitation. Use that one faucet for both drinking and cooking.
This exercise will give you a mild sense of the water situation in rural.
