Once you become of aware of the Congolese's plight, you will be moved to help. Congo Helping Hands' strives to aid in awareness of the situation of rural poor Congolese and to implement the appropriate action to improve their quality of life in health, education, and ecomonic development.
One of the ways to become awareness is to meet periodically with the rural poor Congolese women, men, and children. It is a time to listen and learn.
You learn and experience their plight when you visit them in their places in life (their village, school, hospital, clinics, fields, water source, etc). They are willing to show you their world. You have to walk in their shoes in their place in life!
Developing the appropriate action is problematic because Congo is the worst places in world to do business. You have to start small, evaluate, and adjust. Then you move to next higher and bigger step on their ladder to climb out of poverty. It takes time because there is not an easy road or silver bullet to break the cycle of poverty.
Helping those in need: Organizations that aid citizens in the DRC
Throughout all the troubles many citizens of the Congo have been faced with these last past years, there are people who are still willing to help others when in need. Although, the war in the Congo has been silenced and much needed media coverage is scarce, there are people who are aware of the situation and have taken action. One organization specifically, is Congo Helping Hands, INC. This group is a non-profit Christian organization that aids in the improved quality of life in the DRC. The organization has done many projects in order to increase awareness and provide the citizens of the DRC with the essential skills and tools to promote well-being.
Another organization helping out in the Congo, is the International Rescue Committee or the IRC, which also aids in the restoration of the country. The IRC is one of the largest organizations providing humanitarian aid to the DRC, by providing emergency relief, health-care and education to the war-torn communities of the Congo. The IRC is also one of the few organizations that focus on sexual violence as well, providing teams counselors and supports services to help teach preventive methods and to provide support if a crime has already occurred.
Even though the struggles in the Congo seem everlasting, there are still people in this world that aren’t afraid to lend a helping hand. Organizations such as, Congo Helping Hands Inc. and the International Rescue Committee, focus rehabilitating the fallen nation. The efforts of these kinds people not only saves lives, but give hope, hope that is in desperate need. I can only commend them for their efforts and hope that the people of the Congo will soon see a brighter day.
