When I was in elementary school, I played the role of Oliver Twist. So, I have always thought that adoption as a way to help only one child. What about all the other unlucky children left behind? I can still remember the sadness of the play. I carried that baggage with me into my work with Congo Helping Hands.
Lately, I have realized that adoption also helps an incomplete family. So there is another side to the adoption story, the adoptive parents.
Adoption of orphans could be related to the Starfish Story. In Congo, I have been approached by individuals who care for and who wanted to care for orphans.
Today, another link has been made in the long adoption chain. I found a local organization that handles adoptions of Congolese orphans. That's exciting news for the Congolese orphans if they can find loving adoptive parents.
