Widows are a vulnerable group in any country or society. That's a known fact from Biblical times. But all widows are not created equal. Their problems are varied. However, their problems are worsen by the conditions of the Congo.
Poverty conditions are the root causes. The poor are less educated and have limited access to the health care. Also, the cultural norms of Africa limit women development and empowerment.
The plight of widows are more critical in rural Congo. But women come to the aid of women. They provide a valuable safety net.
